Cross-linked βeta-cyclodextrin/boehmite nanoparticles: Synthesis and application for the adsorption of crystal violet dye from aqueous solutions abstract

In this work, beta-cyclodextrin-NH2-functionalized boehmite nanoparticles (BOH/NH2/βCD NPs) as an efficient adsorbent were prepared and employed for the removal of crystal violet (CV) dye from aqueous solutions. The results of study showed that the BOH/NH2/βCD NPs has a high adsorption efficiency toward CV dye, and used in several adsorption-desorption cycles. In addition, the results indicated that pseudo-second-order kinetics model and Freundlich isotherm model well describe the adsorption of CV on the BOH/NH2/βCD NPs. The maximum adsorption capacity of CV dye was 104 mg/g. The proposed adsorbent has been successfully applied to remove model dye with satisfactory results
