Evaluation of compressive strength of cement stabilized clay and reinforced with geotextile fiber

Abstract:
Today, need to develop more construction because to increasing population growth and progress of human society. The lack of suitable land has made to improve the human inevitably result in inappropriate areas. The use of cement as a stabilizer and available materials, to improvement the soils have been considered in recent years. The use of cement can cause problems such as increasing brittleness and reduced ductility in the soil. Use of fibers for reinforcement of soil reduces these problems. In this study, was studied the effect of geotextile fibers on the unconfined compressive strength of clay (CL). For soil stabilization was used cement percent by weight of ۱, ۲, ۴ and ۸ and curing time of ۱,۷,۱۴, ۲۸ day. And used of geotextiles fibers for reinforcement of soil with an aspect ratio of ۳, ۵ and percent by weight ۰.۵, ۱ and۲. The test results showed that adding fiber until percent by weight ۰.۵% and cement to each value to the soil (CL) increased of unconfined compressive strength, also adding fiber in soil-cement increased of strain is have greatly. The obtained unconfined compressive strength of all samples was function of the percentage of fiber, cement and curing time.
