Abstract:
Nowadays, fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) with different strength and stiffnessproperties are used as common materials in various applications owing to their easymaintenance and installation. Moreover, FRPs suggest new methods to address theproblems related to the concrete, including aging and upgraded and weakened structures.These composites are orthotropic, unlike traditional concrete, which has the isotropiccharacteristic. It has been shown that the numerical analysis of the internal stress/straindistribution of the beams is comparable with experimental results. So, finite elementdesign can be employed for experimental studies in order to model and predict thereinforced concrete beams behavior. In this paper, studies of FRP-strengthened concretestructures simulated by finite element method were reviewed. Our work also points outthe simulation of the main materials of FRP strengthened system (concrete, steelreinforcement, and FRP composite) in ANSYS.
