Abstract:

Accurate measurement and the impact of various factors on the trend of changes in soil dynamic parameters at different strain levels have a very important role in seismic response analysis and design of structures. These parameters (damping and shear modulus) are divided into two parts by linear behavior (soil elastic behavior at very small strain levels) and nonlinear behavior (elastoplastic and plastic behavior at medium and large strain levels) by changing the strain level. Therefore, in this study, while examining the theoretical foundations and technical literature related to shear wave velocity measurement using bender elements (BE), how to interpret and analyze the results, uncertainties and the effect of effective parameters in accurate modulus measurement Shear (Gmax) is discussed. Suggestions have also been made to increase the response accuracy of bender elements.
