Abstract:

Background & Aims: The anxiety of dental and nursing students increase in hospital wards and dental environment during the Covid-۱۹ Pandemy. This study aimed to compare the anxiety of clinical dentistry and nursing students in exposure to Covid ۱۹ Pandemy.Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, ۳۶۹ second semester dental and nursing students were selected by convenience sampling method in ۲۰۲۰. A demographic information questionnaire and the Corona Disease Anxiety Scale (CDAS) with ۱۸ statements were used for gathering data. The questionnaires were given to the students through WhatsApp application. The data was analyzed by SPSS (v.۲۱). P value less than ۰.۰۵ was considered significant.Results: The anxiety of dental and nursing students was mild and there was no significant difference between them in terms of corona anxiety score. The level of anxiety in students of both groups with a significant difference in female dental students was higher than male students (nursing students, p= ۰.۰۴۹ and dentistry students, p=۰.۰۰۱). In married and non-native students, there was a significant difference in anxiety scores between nursing and dental students (p=۰.۰۱), which was higher in dental studentsConclusion: The results revealed new evidence about the anxiety of dental and nursing students in the Covid ۱۹ pandemy. It is recommended that interventions and appropriate strategies be adopted to reduce students' anxiety and help female, married and non-native students. Proceedings should be taken by university officials and teachers during the Covid ۱۹ pandemy.
