Abstract:

Background and Objective: Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), of which more than۱۰۰ strains have been identified. This virus has a great affinity for skin cells and mucous membranes, andthe way of its transmission is through close contact. Papilloma viruses can cause various types of warts bycausing skin and mucous infections, including skin warts, plantar warts, flat warts, genital warts, laryngeal papilloma, etc. In addition, research shows that many cancers such as head and neck cancers, cervix, vulva, anus, testicles, external genitalia, respiratory system, etc. can have papilloma origin.Although there is no problem in detecting common warts on hands and feet, cornified layers and callusesmay be mistaken for warts. In addition, these warts have long and narrow veins in the dermis area, whichcause limited bleeding during manipulation. In this case, it is necessary to distinguish them from otherkeratotic lesions such as actinic keratosis or, rarely, squamous cell carcinoma. Using a Dermascope isvery useful for quick diagnosis with high accuracy. It should be noted that the treatment of warts may notbe easy and cannot be done with routine treatment methods such as cryotherapy, thermotherapy, chemicaldrugs, laser, etc. In the traditional medicine of Iran, Nettleplant is mentioned as one of the effective plantsin the treatment of warts. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the therapeutic effect of Nettle plantextract (Viranex) produced in Behzist Airic Novin Daru Company on multiple plantar warts.Material and Methods: In a pre-clinical study, Viranex solution containing Nettleplant extract was used.Viranex is produced in Behzist Airic Novin Daru Company. Among ۶۹ male and female patients withwarts in different parts of the body, four patients had multiple warts on the soles of their feet. These fourpatients were treated without age and gender restrictions according to the manufacturer's protocol andafter obtaining written consent and recording medical information under the supervision of a doctor. These patients had previously been treated at least once with one of the routine methods, but the completetreatment was not done and recurrence of warts was observed. Results: The results of this research show that the treatment of multiple plantar warts in all four patientsis positive after using Viranex solution and the protocol suggested by the manufacturer. Conclusion: According to the results obtained from the pre-clinical evaluation, Viranex solutioncontaining Nettle extract can be introduced as a suitable drug for the treatment of multiple plantar warts
