Abstract:
This paper reports the preparation of multiwalled carbon nanotubes/ ۴,۴ʹ-dihydroxybiphenyl (MWCNTs-DHB) nanolayered composite as a new modifier for modification of carbon paste electrode (CPE/ MWCNTs-DHB). CPE/ MWCNTs-DHB shows linear responses for phenol in the concentrations range of ۰.۰۴-۲۲۰ μM with a current sensitivity of ۰.۶۷ µA µM-۱ and a detection limit of ۸.۰ nM (S/N=۳). The electrode shows high selectivity, good repeatability (RSD = ۴.۱ %), excellent reproducibility (RSD = ۳.۵ %), and acceptable stability (۹۱.۲ % over one-month storage). Moreover, the modified CPE exhibits appreciable recoveries (۹۳.۰ – ۱۰۴.۰ %) indicating its acceptable performance for determination of phenol in tap and river water samples.
