However, all thesemethods have dangerous side effects. Oral mucositis and stomatitis are two important complications ofthese methods. Honey is used as a food source as well as medicine. Honey has a wide range of biologicaleffects. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of honey mouthwash and honey onmucositis and stomatitis lesions caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapymethod: In our study, we reviewed most of the studies of the last ۵ years about honey and honeymouthwash through the Google Scholar browser.Finding: The research results showed that honey has a wide range of biological effects Localconsumption of raw honey can effectively prevent mucositis lesions and weight loss, reduce theirseverity, improve the treatment process and duration of treatment, and significantly create a pain-freetreatment process; Therefore, the use of honey during and after radiochemotherapy is recommended.Also, the use of honey mouthwash in patients treated by head and neck radiotherapy and chemotherapycan prevent weight loss and osteomatitis lesions in these patients and reduce the symptoms of oralosteomatitis. minimize; on the other hand, chlorhexidine mouthwash can prevent mucositis in patientsundergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but because this mouthwash can have toxic effects (forexample, discomfort caused by mouthwash, change in taste and staining of teeth) It seems that honey andhoney mouthwash can be a good substitute for it. It seems that in order to better evaluate and resolvesome contradictions, it is necessary to conduct more detailed studies with more statistical society, and todetermine exactly which honey product and with what in each study. Additives used.Conclusion: The results of the investigations showed that honey and honey mouthwash are effective inreducing the side effects of patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy and can be a suitablealternative to chlorhexidine mouthwash.
