A study of the water distribution network of the Al-Haydaria in Iraq abstract
Managing water distribution networks (WDNs) is essential to know that if a problem occurs in any part of this system, it can disrupt consumers' lives. This study aims to check the pressure and velocity of the WDN of Al-Haydaria region of Karabala city, Iraq, to prevent problems. This WDN is a combination of Loops and branches. In each loop, the total water required has been estimated according to the area and number of apartments. The flow rate entering the network of this area was measured on different days and compared to determine the consumption pattern. By entering the input data into EPANET software (by the US Environmental Protection Agency) and performing calculations with this software, the pressure in the nodes and the hydraulic characteristics of the pipes were attained for 168 hours for a whole week. It was found that in some hours, turning off or turning on the additional pump can create more favorable conditions.
