Abstract:
Abstract: Previously, it was thought that only the coding regions of genes play a key role in the occurrence of traits and diseases. Gradually, with the advancement of sequencing methods, the effective role of non-coding regions was also revealed. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), which are only transcribed, play a very important role in various stages of gene expression regulation. Therefore, any change in the amount of transcription of them is associated with a series of diseases, especially diseases that have a complex genetic pattern, such as mental diseases, types of cancers, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and etc. In this article, we briefly mention a number of these diseases that have been found to be associated with lncRNAs. In these diseases, an abnormal increase or decrease of lncRNAs has been detected in the corresponding disorder which can be used as a biomarker or even a therapeutic target.
