Abstract:

Nowadays, renewable sources of electricityproduction, such as solar and wind energy, areamong the most important topics for environmentaland economic reasons. This article, which is presented in two parts, describes the re-design of MAPNA's ۲.۵-megawattwind turbine nacelle, implemented to reducemanufacturing costs. In the first part (this article),the concept of designing a composite multi-piecenacelle cover using a single mold is introduced(rather than several molds for each piece). Furtherdiscussion will be provided regarding the method ofarranging fiber layers for composite materials andthe test process. Our efforts have been directedtowards selecting materials that are easier to accesson the market. With the new design, the effects ofremoving the air conduits and transferring coolers tothe roof of the nacelle have been examined, as wellas the effects of changing the center of gravity of thedesign. The text also discusses how to compensatefor geometric errors in composite pieces duringassembly. As severe sand and dust entry into thenacelle was frequently reported which causesmultiple failure problems (particularly at theMilnader site) on electronic devices, sealing and airconditioning are also important issues. In addition, lighting, safe access for maintenance, and assemblychallenges are included. The second part of the paper looks at the performedFE simulations points of view.
