Abstract:

Small micro grids include storage devices and renewable and non-renewable energy sources that offer an effective approach to providing economic energy in rural areas. Considering the economic aspects, reliability, and pollution concerns, a combination of diesel generators and renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic systems (PV) and energy storage (ES) can be an effective solution in meeting the demand for off-grid loads. Advanced control methods are needed to improve the energy distribution, enable low efficiency and ensure an uninterruptible power supply. In this paper, an optimal control strategy that can efficiently manage an electrical micro grid consisting of different renewable and non-renewable energy sources for an average community is created. In this paper a study on the use of a (MPC) model predictive control approach to the problem of efficient optimization of micro grid operations while meeting a time-constrained request and real data of load demand investigated. The simulation result of the system is evaluated and discussed. The simulation is done with MATLAB software.
