Abstract:

Reflexology is a technique that is widely used as one of the non-drug treatments for pain. The technique of the present study was carried out with the aim of investigating and determining the effect of foot reflexology on anxiety, pain and childbirth outcomes in women. The current study is a clinical trial study that was conducted on ۷۰ pregnant women with first trimester who referred to the pain room of Imam Reza Hospital in Mashhad in the spring and summer of ۱۴۰۰. In this study, the average age of the ۷۰ people who participated in this study was ۲۱.۲۶ years, of which ۶۵ people (۹۳%) were housewives and ۴۳ people (۶۲%) had secondary education. According to the Wilcoxon test, the group that received reflexology massage had a significant relationship with the reduction of pain compared to the control group (P=۰.۰۰۱). The above table shows the average score of the pain level in the two intervention and control groups after the massage. According to the Wilcoxon test, the difference in the pain level in the intervention group compared to the control group was significant (P=۰.۰۰۱) and their pain has decreased. Table ۲). The mean and standard deviation of the first stage of labor was ۳۰۳.۱۵ ± ۷۲ minutes in the intervention group and ۳۲۸.۳ ± ۷۲ minutes in the control group. Although the duration of labor in the first stage has decreased in the intervention group, this reduction was not significant (P=۰.۵۹). Also, the mean and standard deviation of the second stage of labor in the intervention group was ۳۸.۳۱ ± ۱۲.۴۱ minutes and in the control group was ۱۳.۷۱. It was ±۳۸.۷۴ minutes, which is not significant (P=۰.۵۹). The results of this study show that reflexology reduces the intensity of labor pain, duration of labor, anxiety, distribution of frequency of natural birth and increases Apgar score. to be By using this non-invasive method, obstetricians and gynecologists can to some extent achieve one of the most important goals of midwifery as pain relief and anxiety reduction during childbirth and encourage mothers to have a natural delivery.
