Can Linear Posturographic Measures Discriminate Healthy Subjects from CVA Patients during Quiet Standing? abstract

In this study variability in postural sway during quiet standing is investigated. Single-subject (SS) analysisis used as the analytical technique to study and interpretation of postural control during quiet standing. COPtrajectories of 21 trials of standing healthy subject and 24 trials of a cerebrovascular attacked (CVA) patient areconsidered in our analysis. Capabilities of time domain and frequency domain measures for quantifying posturalcontrol and discriminating healthy subject from patient are investigated. The results show that traditional time domainlinear measures as well as frequency domain measures originated from cumulative power spectral density candiscriminate healthy subject from patient one.
