Abstract:

Introduction: Adolescence is one of the important periods of life, which is associated with the development of cognitive, psychological, social and physical changes, and it is called as the stage of transition from childhood to adulthood. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of three types of selected exercise programs on some health-related physical fitness indicators in adolescent girls. Methodology: The present study was a semi-experimental and field type. The statistical sample of the research included ۴۵ non-athletic teenage girls of Soltanieh city with an average age and body mass index respectively؛ ۱۳.۴۶±۱.۰۹ years and ۲۲.۱۶±۱.۷۶ kg/m۲, Based on the criteria for entering the research and available samples were selected and randomly divided into three groups, consist of ۱۵ individuals in intermittent aerobic exercises group and intermittent group and continuous jumping rope exercises group. The training protocol, included three times per week with ۶۰ to ۷۰% maximum heart rate intensity. Anthropometric physical fitness indicators were measured before and after eight weeks training. The normality of the data was confirmed by the Shapiro-Wilk test (P > ۰.۰۵). Analysis of variance with repeated measure was used for statistical analysis at the significant level (P < ۰.۰۵). Findings: The results of the present study showed greater aerobic capacity, endurance of abdominal muscles, flexibility and endurance of shoulder girdle muscles of teenage girls after all three types of exercise (P < ۰.۰۵). A significant difference was observed in the muscle endurance index between the both groups of periodic jumping rope and aerobic exercise (P = ۰.۰۲۲). There was no significant difference between the groups in other physical fitness indicators (P > ۰.۰۵). Conclusion: The results of the research showed that performing rope training in both intermittent and continuous forms can be used as a suitable alternative to running in schools and can improve health-related physical fitness indicators.
