Understanding and Examining the Position of Light in IranianTraditional Architecture abstract

In recent decades, the crises caused by energy shortages and the increasing use of solar energy inbuildings have received much attention, while natural lighting is only one of the areas that havebeen of value in Iranian architecture in the past, the lighting patterns used in this building have beenformed through the interaction of traditional communities with each other and with the nature oftheir habitat and how they relate to the metaphysical over many years. There are three main types ofviews, spiritual, aesthetic or psychological, and physical or scientific approaches in human attitudeto the presence of light in space. Therefore, the present study attempts to review the qualitativeaspects of light and its spirituality in Iranian traditional architecture and has an analytical view tothe qualitative presence of light in architecture space. This study is a descriptive and analyticaldesign, using library and documentary method. By investigation of using light in Iranianarchitecture, the components of light use, and the amount of light entering into traditional Iranianarchitectural spaces, we have three categories of spiritual space components, qualitativecomponents of space, and qualitative-semantic components of light.
