Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and English language learning anxiety in students of English language teaching institutions in Karaj city. The statistical population considered in this research consists of all English language learners in the English language institutes of Karaj city in ۱۴۰۱. The statistical sample includes ۱۵۰ students who are available among language learners. In order to collect data, the emotional intelligence questionnaire of Bradley-Graves (۲۰۰۱) and the anxiety scale of the foreign language class by Horotiz et al. (۱۹۸۶) were used. The results of the research showed that there is a negative and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and English language learning anxiety at a ۹۹% confidence level. This means that the higher a person's emotional intelligence score is, the less anxiety he has in learning English. In other words, a higher level of emotional intelligence is associated with a higher level of mental health and a reduction in anxiety symptoms of learning English, and emotional intelligence can reduce learning anxiety, Emotional intelligence can predict English language learning anxiety.
