Abstract:

Background: Ankle sprains are amongst the most common sports injuries. Our study aimed to evaluate the results of arthroscopic surgery of detachable osteochondritis lesions in the talus (OLT) following rotational trauma in military patients referred to us. Methods:  We assessed ۱۲۰ patients referred to our Hospital from June ۲۰۲۱ to June ۲۰۲۱ due to detached osteochondritis lesions in the talus of the foot. The lesion was due to rotational trauma and ankle sprain. Time to return to activity, ATFL rupture, PTFL rupture, OS trigonum, rupture of the lower desperation CFL, Loose body, and location were compared. Results: Out of ۱۲۰ patients, ۱۰۷ (۸۹.۲%) were male. The mean age of the patients was ۳۸.۱۷±۱۲.۷۰ years. The mean time to return to activity was ۱۰۸.۰۷±۲۷.۸۷ days in women and ۹۲.۸۹±۲۵.۵۶ days in men (P = ۰.۰۶۶). ATFL rupture was ۱۱ (۸۴.۶%) in women and ۴۸ (۴۴.۹%) (P = ۰.۰۰۷). Lower syndesmosis was ۸ (۶۱.۵%) in women and ۳۰ (۲۸.۰%) (P = ۰.۰۱۴). The mean time to return to activity in patients <۴۵ years was ۸۷.۵۴±۲۳.۵۹, and in patients >۴۵ years was ۱۱۴.۵۱±۲۲.۸۱ days (P = ۰.۰۰۰۱). There was no significant difference in the distribution of ATFL rupture, PTFL rupture. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the mean time to return to activity in female patients was longer than in males. Also, the return time to activity in patients less than ۴۵ years was less than in patients over ۴۵ years. The rupture of ATFL, and inferior Syndesmosis was higher in female than male patients.
