Abstract:
Considering the needs of the receivers of any services is of paramount importance in the world today.The ۸th grade English textbook is no exception. In this study through Nunan Questionnaire of NeedsAnalysis (Nunan, ۱۹۸۳) with some modifications for tuning that with the present day needs of thestudents, the major needs of the participants were analyzed and discussed with six sub components.Later a content analysis of the textbook was done by the researcher, and it was found that the book ingeneral is a move forward to meet the communicative needs of the students as shown in the results ofthe questionnaire as the majority of the participants in almost all items of the questionnaire opted forcommunicative needs. The textbook needs some additions and revisions as to the basic needs forcommunication and more functional/communicative features should be added or the present onesneed to be improved.
