Abstract:

The aims of the current study were to Electrospinning of a double-layer mat suitable for use as a wound dressing using Polyurethane and carboxymethyl chitosan sulfate. Outer layer (Polyurethane) a polymer with high elasticity and elastic properties used to simulate the mechanical properties of suitable skin and the second layer that is in contact with the skin (carboxymethyl chitosan sulfate) a polymer with excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability properties that can be used as a scaffold for the growth of skin cells and accelerate wound healing.Polyurethane solution in different concentrations of ۶-۸% was prepared in THF and DMAC solvents (۶۰:۴۰ (v/v)) and electrospun on aluminum foil. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to evaluate the electrospun nanofibers. All the solutions formed beadless nanofibers with different diameters, in voltage of ۱۰kV, ۱۰cm tip to collector distance and the feeding rate of ۱ mL h–۱.Carboxymethyl chitosan sulfate (CMCS) was synthesized from Carboxymethyl chitosan, and then blended with poly ethylene oxide (PEO) and then electrospun. CMCS was characterized using FTIR analysis. CMCS/PEO solutions with ۷%wt concentrations and the ratios of ۴۰:۶۰ were electrospun on the Polyurethane mat. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to evaluate the electrospun CMCS nanofibers and formed beadless nanofibers in voltage of ۲۰kV, ۱۲cm tip to collector distance and the feeding rate of ۰.۸mL h–۱.
