Synthesis of SmFeO3-TiO2 nanocomposite photoanodes for highperformance dye-sensitized solar cells abstract

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) with boosted performances were obtained with a tri-layeredphotoanode structure. Synthesis of SmFeO3 inorganic perovskite nanocrystalline material was done bysol-gel process to prepare diverse SmFeO3/TiO2 nanocomposite photoanodes of DSSCs. Influence ofSmFeO3 nanostructure was unveiled on DSSCs performances. The champion device contained 0.5%SmFeO3+TiO2 composite photoelectrode with PCE=7.06%, indicating 2.66 folds (~60%) enhanced PCEcompared to that of device with TiO2 showing PCE=4.40%. Hence, perovskite SmFeO3 incorporation intoTiO2 photoanode highly boosted JSC values of DSSCs compared to that of the device containing TiO2 dueto enhanced charge transport within DSSC by declining charge recombination.
