Abstract:

In current study, the behavior of composite slabs damaged under corrosion conditions investigated numerically using FE modeling in ABAQUS software. A new hybrid retrofitting scheme has been used which was including application of steel profiles along the length of slab for flexural demand improvement and the CFRP wraps for confinement of concrete core. A prominent finite element modeling procedure has been used for modeling the nonlinear behavior of composite slabs. For validation of FE modeling procedure, a credible experimental study has been selected and good correlation achieved. In continue, various important parameters investigated such as the effect of corrosion rate of steel reinforcement, the effect of steel profile thickness and the effect of CFRP layers number. Some important mechanical measures have been studied including the stiffens variation, energy dissipation, the ultimate strength and the ultimate strain. The result of analysis indicated that by increasing the corrosion percent, the flexural strength of RC slab decreased. By adding the number of CFRP layers, the ultimate strength and energy dissipation had convenient improvement. Also addition to the steel profile thickness leaded to improvement on flexural strength up to ۷۵%.
