Abstract:

Cities are among the most sensitive locations to climate warming. Studying the interaction between cities and climate change is becoming more popular. Climate Sensitive Urban Design (CSUD) was created with the realization that, in addition to economic, spatial, functional, and aesthetic advantages, city design must improve the urban environment and address climate change challenges in order to promote urban resilience. On the other hand, Metropolitan Regeneration (UR) programmes have a proven ability to benefit society, the economy, and the environment of deteriorated urban areas. They may make it easier to adopt climate-change-related spatial policies. Furthermore, there is a severe lack of practical and specific guidance for the processes that allow for the consideration and assessment of co-benefits throughout the implementation and decision-making processes. Moving from decision-making toolkits to solution implementation necessitates methods for reflecting, connecting and inquiring, modelling and exploring, doing and recommending solutions, and enabling multidimensional communication networks for providing co-benefits in real-world situations. Therefore, this article intends to provide a suitable path for urban designers and planners in the era of sustainable development by collecting and modelling information needed for climate-sensitive urban design.
