Abstract:

Background: Due to the complex anatomy of the sacroiliac joint, the success rate of accurate intra-articularinjection is only ۱۲-۲۲%. Therefore, an imaging guidance tool is strongly recommended.Materials and Methods: Eligible participants were and received Prednisolone ۴۰ mg plus Marcaine. The twogroups were compared based on NRS, at four measurement point times (T۰-T۳). Baseline, ۱۵ min, ۶۰ min,and ۲۴ hours after the procedure. The number of punctures, the time of the procedure, and any adverseeffects were also documented and compared between the two groups. Statistical analysis was done usingSPSS version ۲۱ with a significant level of less than ۰.۰۵.Results and Conclusion: A total of ۷۲ eligible cases enrolled in the survey and were randomly divided into twogroups ultrasound (US) and fluoroscopy (FL). In both groups, NRS significantly decreased from baseline to ۲۴h after the procedures (P=۰.۰۰۱). However, no significant difference was observed. In four measurementspoint times, except for ۶۰ minutes after the procedure which NRS score was significantly lower in group FL.The number of punctures was not significantly different. However, comparing the two groups, the time ofprocedure was significantly shorter in the US group (P=۰.۰۰۱). None of our patients reported any adverseeffects related to the procedures.US and FL could be accepted as proper guidance tools, while the time ofintervention was shorter in the US group.
