Abstract:

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to examine the role of early maladaptive schemas and personality traits in predicting the symptoms of cluster B personality disorders.Method: This research is a correlational study. The population included ۴۳۰ students of the Azerbaijan University of Shahid Madani who were randomly selected. The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III), Young early maladaptive Schemas - Short Form (YSQ-SF) and NEO Personality - Short Form (NEO-FFI), were used as data collection tools.The Data Analysis of this study was performed by multiple regression and Pearson correlation.Results: Multiple regression analysis showed that enmeshment/undeveloped self-Schema was the best predictor of Histornic personality disorder. Unrelenting standards play the most important role in Narcissistic personality disorder. Also, mistrust Schema was the best predictor of antisocial and borderline personality disorders. Neuroticism traits had the most power in predicting Cluster B personality disorders, compared to other personality traits.Conclusion: Early maladaptive schemas and personality traits play an important role in predicting the symptoms of personality disorders in students.
