Abstract:

The aim of the present study was the relationship between perfectionism and job burnout with the mediating role of motivation in counselors and clinical psychologists. In terms of the practical purpose, this research was a field data collection method and in terms of the implementation method, it was a descriptive correlation type. The statistical population included all counselors and clinical psychologists in counseling centers in the ۵th district of Tehran, totaling ۲۹۲ people, and ۱۶۶ people were selected as the sample size using the Karjesi and Morgan table and the stratified random sampling method. The data collection tools included the standard questionnaires of Hill et al.'s perfectionism (۲۰۰۴), Meslech and Jackson's (۱۹۸۱) burnout, Bakshi et al.'s motivation (۲۰۰۳). The validity of these questionnaires was confirmed by experts, the reliability was calculated through Cronbach's alpha coefficient, respectively (۰.۹۰, ۰.۷۷, ۰.۸۹ percent). For data analysis, descriptive (frequency and percentage) and inferential methods (Kolmogorov Smirnov, Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equations) were performed using Spss and Lisrel software. The results showed that there is a relationship between perfectionism and job burnout with the mediating role of motivation in counselors and clinical psychologists in District ۵ of Tehran. That is, it showed that perfectionism is directly related to job burnout, but motivation increases this relationship.
