Diversity of Function Analysis System Technique Application in Management

Function Analysis System Technique (FAST) is one of the best analysis tools developed based on “HOW-WHY” intuitive logic rules for Identifying functions of the system, mapping the system and determining what has to be done to improve the value added contributions of the project. It opens the subject under study, forming the basis for wide variety of subsequent approaches and analysis techniques. This technique usually is used by most Value Engineers to analyze the functions and reduce the cost of projects, because of usual using FAST in VE/VM, the majority think that FAST is just a VE tool, but FAST is a powerful analysis tool which has diverse application in management, It has proven to be an excellent and powerful tool for project management, planning activity, Business system Re-Engineering, Problem Solving Process and everywhere that system viewing and analyzing in each level of abstraction is needed. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the diversity of FAST rather than presents a tutorial on its principles. It is assumed that the audiences are beginners in function analysis and FAS T, so at first the basic definition of function analysis and building the FAST model will be illustrated and an overview FAST analysis. Application will be presented afterward, also some real examples of FAST will be presented demonstrating its effectiveness.
