Effects of different amounts of hydroalcoholic extract of Zataria multiflora and silver nanoparticles on some blood parameters of stellate sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus, Pallas, ۱۷۷۱)

Abstract:

The antimicrobial effects of Zataria multiflora extract and silver nanoparticles have been confirmed in different studies. The objective of this study was to find the effects of Zataria multiflora extract and silver nanoparticles on hematological indices of juvenile’s stellate sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus). In order to do this study, ۲۷۰ stellate sturgeons with an average weight of ۱۵±۲ g transferred to tanks with ۵۰۰L volume. An experiment was organized in which six different treatments included: diet with hydroalcoholic extract of Zataria multiflora (۱۰۰ mg/kg), short baths treatment (۶۰ minutes) with hydroalcoholic extract of Zataria multiflora (۱۰۰۰ ppm) and four short baths treatments (۶۰ minutes) with diffrent colloidal silver nanoparticles (۰.۴, ۰.۶, ۰.۸ and ۱ ppm) were investigated. Stellate sturgeon juveniles in the studied groups were treated for ۱۰ days. At the end of the experiment, hematological parameters were determined.The results of the analysis of blood parameters were tested based on one way ANOVA and Duncan test. It showed that there was a significant difference in mean and standard deviation of white blood cells, red blood cells, neutrophil, lymphocyte, hemoglobin, hematocrit and MCH in treatment groups and control group (p<۰.۰۵). A Significant increase in white blood cells, red blood cells, neutrophil, hemoglobin, hematocrit and MCH was observed in short-term bath treatment (۶۰ minutes) of ۱ ppm colloidal silver nanoparticles compared to other treatments.
