Anthropological Approaches: Image and ReligiousValidity of Pilgrimage in the Culture of Afghan People,A Study in Jalalabad City abstract
Pilgrimage is a devotional practice consisting of a prolonged journey, often undertaken on foot, toward a specific destination of significance. It is an inherently transient experience, removing theparticipant from his or her home environment and identity. The means or motivations inundertaking a pilgrimage might vary, but the act, however performed, blends the physical and thespiritual into a unified experience. This research delves to identify the religious validity ofPilgrimage in afghan culture. The current research was launched based on the qualitative methodand for the collecting data the documentary method was used. As the research on the pilgrimageto Jalalabad city is discussed, it becomes clear that pilgrims do travel to the city from all acrossthe nearby places, and that most 'Sunni' Muslims participate in this journey.
