Development of Virtual Reality Head-Mounted Display: Teaching Infection Prevention and Control to Millennial Nursing Students abstract

Aims: Teaching infection control to millennial nursing students poses a challenge. This study aimed to develop a virtual reality head-mounted display to teaching millennial nursing students about infection prevention and control related to Catheter-associated Urinary Tract Infection. Methods: The study design was Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. An evaluation was conducted using User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) among 115 nursing students at Karsa Husada Garut High School of Health, West Java Province, Indonesia were selected using purposive sampling. The data obtained were analyzed with UEQ Data Analysis Tool version 10. Findings: excellent ratings for attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, accuracy, stimulation, and novelty, with mean values of 2.26 (95% CI: 2.162- 2.362), 2.30 (95% CI: 2.167-2.425), 1.89  (95% CI: 1.646-2.139), 1.88 (95% CI: 1.536-2.225), 1.72 (95% CI: 1.304-2.127), and 1.61 (95% CI: 1.225-1.990), respectively. Conclusions: virtual reality head-mounted display Infection prevention and control application was found to be excellent in terms of attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, accuracy, stimulation, and novelty, making it suitable for millennial nursing students.
