Efficacy of an Expanded Health Belief Model related to Perceived Benefits toward Climate Change in Promoting Response Actions among Collegians atthe University abstract
Objectives: To determine the efficacy of expanded Health Belief Model related to Perceived benefits toward climate change in promoting response actions among collegians at the university.
Methods: The research employed a true experimental study design, and it included participation from 144student (study group and control group). The study was carried out at College of Education for Pure Sciences in the AL- Nasiriyah City.
Result: The study results indicate that there is an improvement in the such perceived benefits of climate change counteraction behaviors in randomized controlled trial groups as compared with those who non-randomized controlled trial groups. and found that there is a no statistical significant difference between randomized and non-randomized controlled trial groups in the pre-test period(t=.265; p= .791). While, there is a statistical significant difference between the randomized and non-randomized controlled trial groups at the post-test I(t=13.936; p= .000) and II periods(t=12.571; p= .000).
Conclusions: The administered Expanded Health Belief Model-based intervention noticeably, positively changed students’ Perceived benefits to enhancing the climate change counteraction, There was significant improvement in the perception of university students' about global warming based on HBM after instruction with visual materials compared to before instruction.
