Abstract:
The movie adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy of The Lord of the Rings misses some keyfactors that makes possible wrong claims regarding the story such as a simple conflict betweentwo polarized good and evil, which Tolkien himself, as will be proved during the curse of thisstudy, was directly concerned with to put into the novels to prevent such interpretations. This studyby using Slavoj Žižek’s theories, sheds light on the matter of antagonism and the fantasies of‘paranoid construction’ and ‘society as a corporal body’ to prove that the minor pieces that themovie deleted and changed, if to be analyzed through psychoanalytical and ideological studies, made the whole narration to lose its original sense and the author’s task which was concerned tocreate more complex characters and deeper narrative is simply ignored in Peter Jackson’s trilogyof The Lord of the Rings.
