Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of parental bonding in relation between early maladaptive schemas and quality of marital relationship among women in Shiraz. The research method was descriptive-correlational of structural equation modeling. The statistical population consisted of all women in Shiraz city in ۲۰۲۳ that ۲۵۰ of them were selected and studied using convenience sampling method. To collect data, the Young Early Maladaptive Schema Questionnaire (۲۰۰۵), Marital Quality of Fletcher et al. (۲۰۰۰) and Parental Bond Parker et al. (۱۹۷۹) were used. Data were analyzed using structural equation analysis. Findings showed that early maladaptive schemas had a direct significant effect on marital relationship quality (P<۰.۰۰۱). Also, parental bonding has a direct and significant effect on the quality of marital relationship (P<۰.۰۰۱). The results also showed that early maladaptive schemas have indirect effect on the quality of marital relationship in women through parental bonding. The final model also had a good fit. Therefore, it can be concluded that in order to increase the quality of marital relationship, we should focus on reducing early maladaptive schemas and improving parental bonding.
