Abstract:

Introduction: The prevalence of uterine and cervical cancerin older women is higher than that of young women, and it isassociated with a higher risk of death. The aim of this study isto investigate the level of ATP۴A methylation in normal anduterine cancer samples. Methods: We used Starbase encori to investigate the expressionof ATP۴A gene in normal samples(n=۳۵) and uterin cancersamples(n=۵۴۸). Then we investigated its methylation throughthe DiseaseMeth database. Results: Studies on ۳۵ normal samples and ۵۴۸ cancer samplesshowed that ATP۴A gene has a significant expression in cancersamples compared to normal samples. (p value: ۲.۰e-۱۰)According to the findings of the DiseaseMeth database, theATP۴A gene appears to be hypomethylated in cancer samples. In fact, this gene is expressed only in stomach cells and is naturallymethylated in other body tissues. (p value: ۱.۶۲۴e-۱۲)Conclusion: In Conclusion: , Our results suggest that probablyhypomethylation and aberrant expression of ATP۴A genein uterine and endometrial tissue can lead to malignancy. Therefore, this gene may be a good potential diagnostic marker. Also, our results suggest that treatments based on ATP۴A hypermethylation can approach to provide new treatments for uterine andcervical cancer.
