Loss Reduction and Voltage Improvement of Meshkinshahr Distribution Network with Optimal Capacitor Placement Using BPSO Algorithm

This paper proposed a binary particle swarmoptimization (BPSO) for optimal capacitor placement onMeshkinshahr distribution network. Harmonic distortion ofvoltage sources in network caused a double harmonic currentinjection, increasing network losses and incidence of resonancephenomenon. Therefore, the issue of expression, harmonicdistortion of voltage sources is considered. Moreover, selectedBPSO method to consider the discrete nature of the placementproblem. Whereas, most of the articles have considered thisproblem continuously this issue caused reduction of the resultaccuracy to determine the size, exact location of capacitors andnon-convergence of problem. Finally, the proposed method hasbeen applied to Meshkinshahr distribution network to reduceloss and improve voltage profile with regard to harmonicdistortion of voltage sources and annual load profile.
