Estimation of rock mass deformation modulus using the new empirical equations abstract
Deformation modulus of rock masses is an important factor in geomechanical problems. In-situ tests are expensive and time consuming. Therefore, indirect procedures are often used to estimate the deformation modulus. In the rock mechanics literature for indirect estimation of thedeformation modulus, some empirical relations exist between deformationmodulus and rock mass classification such as RMi, RMR, Q and GSI. In this paper presented some new empirical equations on the basis rock mass rating (RMR) for estimation of the deformation modulus of rock masses. Also, as areason the behavior of geological environments is very complex and changeable, therefore in this study for a range of RMR, suggested a range of values of deformation modulus of rock mass.
