Abstract:

Introduction: Menopause is one of the most important stages in women's life. In Asia, menopausal women constitute ۲۸.۳% of the total population. Life satisfaction is result of experiencing positive emotions in life. Life satisfaction decreases in menopause. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating factors affecting life satisfaction in menopause.Material and Method: The present study is a narrative review that, in order to compile this article, articles were searched by using the keywords life satisfaction, menopause, review alone and in combination with AND and OR in the Persian and English databases of PubMed, Scopus, Science direct, ProQuest, SID, Magiran and Google Scholar search engine without time and language restrictions. At first, ۵۶ articles were found, the inclusion criteria, All the studies were quantitative that had examinedthe factors affecting life satisfaction. Finally, the data of ۲۰ articles were used for writingResult: The results of the study showed that factors affecting life satisfaction in menopause are divided into four main variable groups. First, Psychological variables (increasing depression, increasing anxiety and stress, decreasing optimism and decreasing happiness cause less satisfaction in life.) Second, Physical variables (including increased types of pains, especially musculoskeletal and joint pains, high body mass) which, if present, are the cause of reducing life satisfaction. Third, sexual variables (including marital dissatisfaction and a decrease in sexual intimacy) that are associated with a decrease in life satisfaction, and finally the fourth, Variables of vasomotor symptoms (including hot flashes, urogenital problems, sleep disorders) decrease life satisfaction in menopausal women.Conclusion: In order to expand the mental health and happiness of postmenopausal women,all physical, psychological and social economic factors are important.And the policy makers of women's health should pay attention to these issues in adjusting of annual care.
