Abstract:

Introduction and goal: The covid-۱۹ which was declared as an epidemic by the world health organization (WHO) on march ۱۱,۲۰۲۰ caused great concern all over the world.in this pandemic disease, older people are at higher risk.therefore health strategies such as quarantine and social distancing are important in the elderly to prevent the spread of coronavirus. However with limited contact with other people can lead to the loss of social support,which is especially important for older people. Also social isolation may result in loneliness, which is a factor significantly associated with depression in the elderly. Loneliness is a strong risk factor for the development of number of health conditions, such as coronary heart disease and stroke and increased risk in mortality. These situations have been shown to predict worse disease outcomes and quality of life in older populations. The aim of this review study is to evaluate the social isolation loneliness and quality of life of elderly individuals during the covid-۱۹ pandemic and to map suggestions to reveal and improve the current situation.Materials and ways: during this review of articles related to the keywords of social isolation, quality of life, elderly from foreign databases: Google Scholar, PubMed, proquest, after reviewing the articles during the years۲۰۲۱ to۲۰۲۳, ۱۸ related articles were analyzed and categorized.Results: The findings show that older adults experience social isolation in connection with the restrictions during the pandemic, and that their degree of loneliness and quality of life are negatively effected. Study have shown that teaching the elderly to use today communication technology (video calls with their children), exercise at home and improve their nutritional status can be effective in reducing the complications of the quarantine period and improving the quality of life of the elderly.
