Abstract:

Background: Surgery is a common treatment for congenital abnormalities in children. Awareness ofthese children's physiological, psychological, behavioral and family responses is crucial in order tounderstand, diagnose and provide appropriate care for the nurse.Objective: To identify different perioperative nursing care strategies based on different age groups,assess their effectiveness, and determine any gaps that require further investigation.Methods: The study systematically reviewed studies with participants aged ۰-۱۸ years old (P),evaluating any pediatric perioperative nursing care for children undergoing open heart surgery (I) andincluded a control group (C). The study focused on results in improvement of postoperative recoveryand reduced complications (O), within the last ۳۰ days before surgery and the first ۳۰ days after surgery(T). The study searched for studies in PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library, including randomizedcontrolled trials and pilot studies, following PRISMA guidelines.Results: This systematic review of ۱۴ studies demonstrates that pediatric perioperative nursing caresignificantly improves outcomes in children undergoing open-heart surgery. Findings suggest thatvarious nursing interventions, impact recovery. Nutrition, air cusions, listening to mother’s voice,education machine, massage therapy, reading, volum and fluid therapy and medication for postoperativenursing care, and for preoperative nursing care, medication were mostly used by nurses.Conclusion: Pediatric perioperative nursing care plays a crucial role in enhancing outcomes for childrenundergoing open-heart surgery. Tailored evidence-based practices can lead to better clinical outcomesand overall well-being for pediatric cardiac patients. Nursing care strategies should be considered forneonates under going open heart surgeries.
