Abstract:

For the present measurements/ the jet flow issued from a skew- symmetrical orifice such as the restriction of a spool valves generally used in hydraulic power systems/ is examined.The flow exerts axially directed forces on the valve consequently/ it is very important to estimate these forces/ since they strongly affect the performance of the valve. The image processing of visualized streak-lines are carried out for the jet flow through a nozzle into the atmosphere, the flow was close to be two-dimensional/ incompressible/ steady and laminar. The streak-lines were visualized applying hydrogen bubble generating technique and the photos were taken from the patterns with a ۳۵mm camera. A stream-line coordinate system is adopted for governing equations. Present measurements includes the distribution of velocity/ vorticity and pressure with the aid of computer aided design(CAD). The principle of adopted stream-line coordinates which was developed by one of the authors is also explained in details. Efforts are made to summarize the recent development related to the present study and to provide an extensive relevant references for the readers.
