Abstract:

Measurements using DISA constant temperature hot-wire anemometer, applying standard miniature normal probes are done for the time-mean velocity. Turbulence measurements and local stress distribution are also presented using DISA X-wire probe. Finally, these measured values are compared with other workers' results who studied the same type of flow. The direct proportionality between the shear-stress and the kinetic energy which is regarded as a criterion for structural equilibrium of a turbulent flow, characterized by a local balance of energy generation and dissipation are compared with others. The values throughout agree very well with earlier findings. The nearly constant ratio of uv ۰.۵ q characteristic of flows studied here are compared with very recent findings. The correlation coefficient uv u'v' for a fully developed channel flow proved to be virtually constant over a considerable region near the wall which agrees very well with those obtained by others.
