OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENT IN MECHANICSOF AEROSOLS TRANSPORT IN TURBULENT FLOWS

The fluid mechanics of aerosols is reviewed and forces responsible for migration, dispersion and wall deposition of contaminant particles are discussed. A computa tional procedure for studying deposition of aerosols from turbulent air streams on smooth and rough surfaces is presented. Effects of Brownian diffusion, Saffman lift force and gravity are included in the computational model. Examples of deposition of aerosol particles in the range of ۰.۰۱ to ۱۰ microns from an initially uniform concentration are presented.
