Abstract:

Clay is a naturally occurring substance widely distributed in the environment, and both its natural and modified forms possess remarkable capabilities for removing diverse contaminants. Nano Clays, characterized by their small particle size, extensive surface area, and high porosity, exhibit unique properties that make them valuable in numerous industrial applications. Furthermore, there is a growing trend towards utilizing nano clays in environmental contexts, particularly for the removal of various pollutants from water and wastewater. The appropriateness of employing nano clays in specific applications hinges on the pollution control requirements and the distinct characteristics of nano clays. This article succinctly presents the distinctive features of various nano clays and elaborates on their industrial applications. Additionally, it highlights the challenges in this field and presents recommendations for future research endeavours.
