Abstract:

Introduction and purpose: drug use as a social and unacceptable habit in all human societies has involved many men and women, especially from teenage to middle age. The province of Sistan and Baluchistan is the gateway to the entry of drugs into the country. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the causes of drug abuse from the point of view of the treated people who refer to the MMT clinic. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, ۳۹۰ people undergoing substance abuse treatment referred to the MMT clinic of Baharan Hospital in Zahedan were examined in ۲۰۲۱. The sampling method was easy and available. Data were collected using interviews and questionnaires and analyzed using chi-square tests and logistic regression. Results: According to the results, ۳۱ people (۷.۹%) were women and ۳۵۹ people (۹۲.۱%) were men. The average age of the subjects was ۳۸.۴۳±۹.۹۳ years with a range of ۲۰ to ۶۶ years. The average duration of drug use was ۸۰.۵۲±۴۸.۳۱ months with a range of ۱۲ months to ۲۴۰ months. The most important cause of the tendency to addiction are individual factors, followed by family factors, environmental factors, and social factors. The environmental family factor of substance abuse had a significant relationship with gender (P=۰.۰۴۷). Also, there was a significant relationship between education and addiction tendency score with individual factors (P=۰.۰۱۸) and social factors (P=۰.۰۵). Conclusion: Drug addiction is influenced by various personal, family and social factors. Public and private institutions and organizations can reduce the tendency to drugs among young people by facilitating and providing educational, awareness, recreation, and entertainment, creating employment and reducing the atmosphere of insecurity.
