Abstract:

The present study was conducted with the aim of the effectiveness of the positive mindfulness training program on the power of alpha and beta brain waves in teenage girls with pseudo-epilepsy disorders. This research was semi-experimental with a time series design of one group and no control group in three phases: pre-test, post-test, and one-month follow-up. The statistical population included adolescent girls aged ۱۴ to ۱۸ years with pseudo-epilepsy disorder in Isfahan City in ۱۴۰۱. In this research, ۷ adolescent girls with pseudo-epilepsy disorder were selected by purposive sampling method. These people received the positive mindfulness training program in ۸ sessions of ۹۰ minutes. In order to record brain waves, a ۳۲-channel EEG device named Nehon Koden was used in Al-Zahra Hospital in Isfahan. The data obtained from the research were analyzed by variance analysis with repeated measures and LSD post hoc test. The results showed that this intervention had a significant effect on the power of alpha and beta waves (P<۰.۰۵), and was able to increase the power of alpha waves and decrease the power of beta waves. Therefore, a positive mindfulness training program using mindfulness and positive psychology techniques can cause changes in brain waves in teenage girls with pseudo-epilepsy disorders.
