Prediction of Pornography through Shame and Guilt in College Students

Purpose: Considering the spread of pornography among teenagers and young people, the present study was conducted with the aim of predicting pornography through shame and guilt. Method: The current research is a correlational description. The statistical population was all students of Sistan and Baluchestan University ۱۰۰ of them were selected by available sampling method. The data were collected by completing the questionnaires of shame Rizvi (۲۰۱۰) and pornography of Peter & Valkenburg (۲۰۰۶) and were analyzed in SPSS software version ۲۲ using Pearson's correlation coefficient and step-by-step regression. Findings: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between shame and guilt and the use of pornography among students (P<۰.۰۰۱). Also, based on the regression results, shame and guilt (R۲=۰.۳۵) predicted the use of pornography. This means that the greater the shame and guilt, the lower the use of pornography. Conclusion: In line with the findings of this research, it can be acknowledged that due to the addictive nature of pornography, having religious ethics and a tendency towards moral issues such as shame and guilt are considered the best antidotes for pornography. Therefore, it is better to develop training programs and specialized working groups in this field.
