Abstract:

Introduction: Dialectical behavior therapy and metacognitive therapy are third wave treatments whose effectiveness has been tested in a range of mental disorders. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of dialectical behavior therapy and metacognitive therapy in reducing or controlling rumination and increasing self-discipline in self-harming behavior among young people. Methodology: The research methodology used in this study was quasi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The study included a sample of ۲۵ young people who engaged in self-harm during the middle three months of ۱۴۰۲, selected at random and divided into three groups. The first group received treatment based on dialectical behavior therapy the second group received metacognitive therapy, and the control group was placed on the waiting list to collect information from the Nalan Hoeksma and Maro Rumination Questionnaire, the Stroop Color Word Test, Mark's ۱۰-item Questionnaire. Davies is used, which has two scales. Conclusion: The study indicates that both dialectical behavior therapy and metacognitive therapy have emphasized reducing rumination symptoms and increasing self-discipline. However, there is a distinction between the effectiveness of dialectical behavior therapy and metacognitive therapy in reducing rumination symptoms and focusing on behavioral therapy discipline. Dialectical behavior therapy has had a noteworthy influence. In this study, both dialectical behavior therapy and metacognitive therapy were found to effectively reduce pathological rumination and promote self-discipline.
