Abstract:

The purpose of this research was to compare the effectiveness of meaning therapy and Lazarus therapy on illness anxiety of nurses in Shiraz hospitals. ۴۵ nurses from the mentioned society were selected with a purposeful method and were randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group. The research design was a pre-test-post-test experiment with a control group. Evans self-care questionnaire was used to collect data. The experimental groups were conducted with two different treatment approaches: meaning therapy during ten ۹۰-minute sessions and Lazarus during ten ۵۰-minute sessions. The data were analyzed using covariance analysis. According to the results of this research, by comparing the two treatment methods, there is a significant difference between the two methods in improving disease anxiety, and Lazarus treatment showed more effectiveness than meaning therapy. In general, the results showed that meaning therapy and Lazarus treatment improved the anxiety of nurses.
