Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of cognitive group therapy using Michael Frey method, Yalom group therapy and group transactional analysis therapy on family climate, family functioning and family cohesion in family with ۲ children in Shiraz city. This study was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population of the study was families with two children, among which ۸۰ were selected by the sampling method. Convenience sampling was selected and randomly assigned to three experimental and one control group (۲۰ in each group). All three experimental groups were treated in ۱۱ sessions of ۹۰ minutes. Hill Born Family Emotional Climate Questionnaire (۱۹۶۴), Epstein Family Functioning (۱۹۸۳) and Olson Family Coherence Questionnaire (۱۹۹۹) they were administered before the beginning of treatment and the end of the treatment sessions. The control group received no intervention. The results of multivariate analysis of covariance showed that all three methods of cognitive group therapy Michael Frey method, Yalom group therapy and group transactional analysis therapy were effective on family emotional climate, family functioning and family cohesion. The results showed that the group therapy was more effective than the Yalom group therapy and the cognitive group therapy by Michael Frey method. Therefore, it can be used to improve family emotional climate, family functioning and family cohesion.
