The Role of Social Isolation and Sexual Marital Contentment in Predicting Feelings of Inferiority in Persons Affected by Partners' Infidelity

Abstract:
Individuals affected by their partner's infidelity often experience a range of emotional and psychological distress. This study aimed to investigate the role of Social isolation and sexual marital contentment in predicting feelings of inferiority in Persons affected by partners' infidelity. The present research method was descriptive and correlational. The research community included the betrayed people in Yazd in ۲۰۲۳. Sampling was done voluntarily. A total of ۱۴۵ people responded to the research questionnaires, which included questionnaires of social isolation (Russell, Pilova and Cortona, ۱۹۸۰), sexual marital contentment (Larson et al., ۱۹۹۸) and feelings of inferiority (Yao et al., ۱۹۹۷).Data analysis was done using Pearson correlation and multiple regression and using SPSS ۲۸ software package. The findings of the research showed that there is a significant positive relationship between social isolation and the feeling of inferiority of people affected by infidelity (p<۰.۰۰۱); There is a significant negative relationship between sexual marital contentment and the feeling of inferiority of people affected by infidelity (p<۰.۰۰۱) and the results of the regression analysis also showed that social isolation and sexual marital contentment play a role in predicting the feeling of inferiority of people affected by infidelity (p<۰.۰۰۱). These findings highlight the role of social isolation and sexual marital contentment in the psychological problems of people affected by infidelity.
